Zelena infrastruktura u Novom Sadu - stanje, izazovi i perspektive
Green infrastructure in Novi Sad: State, challenges and perspectives
Sažetak
Zelena infrastruktura predstavlja strateški značajan segment savremenog urbanog planiranja, jer doprinosi očuvanju ekosistema, poboljšanju kvaliteta života i adaptaciji na klimatske promene.
Abstract
Green infrastructure represents a strategically significant segment of modern urban planning, as it contributes to ecosystem preservation, improved quality of life, and adaptation to climate change. This paper analyzes the current state, challenges, and perspectives of green infrastructure development in Novi Sad, one of the most important urban centers in Serbia. The city has numerous natural and urbanized green spaces, but in recent years, it has faced the negative effects of accelerated urbanization, including the reduction of green zones and the disregard for planning documentation. The paper identifies key barriers and offers a series of recommendations for improvement: mandatory green roofs, denser greening of boulevards, development of urban and botanical gardens, and the construction of parking spaces with permeable sidewalks. The importance of consistent implementation of urban plans and citizen involvement in the decision-making process is particularly emphasized. Examples from New York (High Line), Singapore (Gardens by the Bay), and Denmark (Brøndby Garden City) demonstrate that integrating natural elements into urban infrastructure can significantly enhance the resilience and functionality of cities. The conclusion is that further development of green infrastructure in Novi Sad is only possible through institutional cooperation, political will, and a change in the awareness of all stakeholders in the space.
