Abstract
Sustainable development is an imperative that compels us to consider the environment we will leave for future generations. This necessity drives the education of experts who will competently face the challenges of modern society. Environmental problems, particularly those stemming from human activities, are emphasized in the education of architects. As part of their studies, fourth-year students at the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the Union Nikola Tesla University examine these issues through the course "Ecology and Built Environment." To better understand environmental challenges, the case study method is employed. Utilizing qualitative research, students worked in groups of five to discuss various aspects of air pollution in the municipality of Stari Grad. Air pollution in Belgrade significantly affects the quality of life and health of its residents, constituting a major environmental issue. Addressing pollution is a pressing topic in Serbian society. While there is widespread awareness of air pollution among the population, this paper aims to reveal the perspectives of those who are most affected by these environmental challenges. Pupils from two elementary schools in the municipality of Stari Grad participated in a survey conducted by the architecture students. This paper will present their views alongside the students' proposals for models of environmental education.
