Abstract
In today's digital age, geographic information systems (GIS) play a key role in understanding and analysing spatial data. The Web GIS platform for the storage, analysis and visualization of geographic information is becoming increasingly important in research and in the interactive presentation of geodata. Web GIS is used in various fields such as urban planning, ecology and natural resource management. This paper examines the role of Web GIS in the field of geography, emphasizing its ability to enable efficient sharing of spatial data and facilitate the performance of various spatial analyses. The functionality is analysed with a particular focus on providing new opportunities for geographical research. It also discusses the challenges that arise in the application of Web GIS, including issues of privacy and access to information. It also emphasizes the importance of continuous development and adaptation of Web GIS technologies to meet the needs of different users and to improve the efficiency of spatial data analysis. The aim of the paper is to understand how Web GIS improves the representation and processing of spatial data and contributes to the development of geographical science in the digital world.
