Sažetak
Milutin Milanković je čekao više od pola veka da bi njegov zakon Kanon osunčavanja potvrdila ekspedicija Džejm Hejs, Džon Imbri i Nikolas Šeklton, koja je dešifrovala paleoklimatsku istoriju, u okviru istraživačkog projeta CLIMAP, 1976. godine. Tada je na misteriju ledenih doba na Zemlji stavljena tačka. Trebalo je tri decenije izdržati osporavanja njegoveteorije, tvrdeći da je ona plod naučnog modnog trika. U to vreme promena klime u prošlosti i misterija ledenih doba bili su važno naučničko pitanje koje je privuklo Milankovićevu pažnju. Od samih početaka značajnu ulogu u ostvarivanju ideje imao je geograf Pavle Vujević koji ga je upoznao sa delima poznatih meteorologa i klimatologa Hana i Traberta. Milankovićevu teoriju su prepoznali i snažno podržali Kepen i Vegener, da bi na njenoj afirmciji veliki doprinos dali Sergel, Ebrel, Beržer i Hed III. Kalendar i migracija polova su Milankovićeva velika ostvarenja.
Abstract
Milutin Milanković persevered for more than fifty years before his theory on insolation was validated by the CLIMAP research project in 1976, led by James Hays, John Imbrie, and Nicholas Shackleton, which illuminated Earth's paleoclimatic history and resolved the mystery of ice ages. Despite enduring decades of skepticism and challenges to his theory, Milanković remained steadfast in his focus on understanding past climate dynamics linked to ice age occurrences. Early in his career, geographer Pavle Vujović played a crucial role in encouraging Milanković's ideas, introducing him to the works of influential meteorologists and climatologists like Hahn and Trabert. Milanković's theory eventually gained recognition and strong support from Köppen and Wegener, and later received further affirmation through contributions from Sergel, Ebrel, Berger, and Head III. In addition to his revolutionary work on Earth's climate history, Milanković also made significant contributions to the understanding of the migration of the magnetic poles over Earth's surface trough geologic history and the calendars.
