Sažetak
Komarci predstavljaju značajan zdravstveni rizik kao vektori prenosioci zaraznih bolesti, zbog čega se u urbanim sredinama sprovode programi njihove kontrole. Jedna od glavnih mera je upotreba larvicida u vodenim staništima, kako bi se sprečio razvoj odraslih jedinki. Leva obala Beograda predstavlja područje sa razgranatom mrežom kanala u kojima se pored atmosferskih voda ulivaju i otpadne komunalne vode iz obližnjih domaćinstava, zbog nepostojanja izgrađene kanalizacione mreže. Ovi kanali predstavljaju pogodno stanište za razvoj komarca, pa se u tim oblastima redovno primenjuju hemijske mere suzbijanja. Kako su larvicidi formulisani da ciljano deluju na razvojni stadium komaraca, njihovo prisustvo u vodenoj sredini može imati potencijalne ekološke posledice. Ova studija ima za cilj da analizira prisustvo i postojanost rezidua larvicida u kanalima na Levoj obali Beograda nakon prošlogodišnje primene. Uzorkovanje je sprovedeno na odabranim lokacijama. Za detekciju larvicida se koristi savremena instrumentalna tehnika, kao što je tečna hromatografija sa masenom spektrometrijom (LC-MS/MS). Dobijeni podaci pružaju bolji uvid u perzistentnost larvicida u vodenoj sredini, što može biti korisno za dalje procene rizika i unapređenje strategije suzbijanja komaraca u urbanim ekosistemima.
Abstract
Mosquitoes represent a significant health risk as vectors of infectious diseases, which is why their control programs are implemented in urban areas. One of the primary measures for mosquito population management is the application of larvicides in aquatic habitats to prevent the development of adult mosquitoes. The left bank of the Danube in Belgrade is characterized by an extensive network of canals, which, in addition to collecting rainwater, also receive domestic wastewater due to the absence of a developed sewage system. These canals provide favorable breeding ground for mosquitoes, leading to the regular implementation of chemical control measures. Since larvicides are formulated to specifically target mosquito larvae, their presence in aquatic environments may have potential ecological consequences. This study aims to assess the persistence and stability of larvicide residues in the canals on the left bank of Belgrade following their application in the previous year. Sampling was conducted at selected locations, and the detection of larvicides was performed using advanced instrumental techniques, such as liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/ MS). The obtained data provides valuable insights into the persistence of larvicides in aquatic environment, which may contribute to risk assessment and the optimization of mosquito control strategies in urban ecosystems.
