Abstract
nbsp; The main goal of this paper is to introduce the theoretical and methodological foundations of the role and importance of managerial competencies that are of permanent importance for achieving high sports results. This paper should help in acquiring basic knowledge when managing human resources in sports. Human resources engaged in the work of a sports organization essentially represent the key to its success. Unfortunately, current sports practice shows that most sports organizations in our country still do not recognize this fact. This is especially noticeable when it comes to the context of sports organization management. In the Republic of Serbia, their management departments still fail to select, but also retain, quality managerial staff. In this way, they remain deprived, first of all, of the potential that enables a quality competitive advantage. Because, in order to select quality staff, it is necessary to organize the selection process well and choose candidates who are ready to be efficient in their work, while at the same time being loyal to their sports organization.
