Abstract
This study investigates the neutralization of wastewater generated after the cementation process in copper metallurgy. Samples of wastewater were mixed with influent wastewater from the industrial wastewater treatment plant at different ratios (10:1 and 20:1). The mixtures were neutralized with 10% Ca(OH)₂ solution to pH 8.5, followed by the addition of a flocculant. The results demonstrated that the concentrations of copper, zinc, chromium, and iron decreased significantly. For mixtures at a 20:1 ratio, the concentrations of all examined metals were below the prescribed emission limit values (ELVs). The study confirms that neutralization with Ca(OH)₂ is an effective treatment method for ensuring compliance with environmental standards before discharge into natural recipients.
